Kids Race Overview

The race will begin at 8:00a.m. with the youngest age group first. Once they have completed the race, the next age group will begin.

Triathlon Distances

Ages 6-8: 25 yard swim • 2 mile bike • 1/2 mile run

Ages 9-11: 50 yard swim • 4 mile bike • 1 mile run

Ages 12-14: 200 yard swim • 8 mile bike • 2 mile run

We will finish the race for each age group before we start the next age group so if you have multiple children racing in various age groups, you will be able to see each of them race. This also allows for us to re-align our volunteers for the different distances. If you would like to volunteer for an age group that you don’t have anyone racing in, we would be quite appreciative! Please just email nroderick@mho.com for more information.

Age Groups / Race Age

We are following USAT rules that state all racers will race at whatever age they are on December 31st of the current year (2010).  Parents please make sure you take this rule into consideration because it could bump your child up into the next group and change their distances!

Parent Etiquette

Please remember that this is a race for the kids, for them to have fun and experience a new sport. Parents are not allowed to push their children on their bikes or assist them during the race. If a parent is behaving in an unsportsmanlike manor, there is potential for your child to be disqualified. We have tried to be more relaxed about this in previous years, but some parents have been so competitive that they have pushed other kids’ bikes out of the way, carried bikes or have yelled at our wonderful volunteers for trying to keep this a race for the kids!!! Let’s all put on our smiles and cheer for our kids that have trained for this event and make it a fun memory for all of them!

Directions

The Fall Frenzy Kids’ tri will be held at The Grange Pool which is in The Meadows in Castle Rock. Take I-25 to the Meadows Parkway exit and go west until you see the silver silo which is where the pool is located. You will not take any turns to get to the race site.

Packet Pick-up

The packet pick-up will be Friday, August 20th from 12:00pm to 7:00pm at The Grange with a pre-race meeting at 4:30.

There will also be a pre-race meeting on race morning at 7:45 a.m.

We encourage all participants (and parent) to attend one of the meetings, especially if this is the participant’s first triathlon. We will go over the course, rules and answer any questions you may have. We will also be announcing any last minute changes.

*Race waivers will need to be signed by parents which will be done at packet pick-up. Each child will need to have their own parents sign their waivers. If the waivers are not signed, the child will not be allowed to race.

Timing Chips

Each racer will be given a timing chip on race morning just before they enter the pool to race, not at packet pick-up. We hope this will alleviate any lost or forgotten chips on race morning! So, each racer will be given their chip and will have help putting it around their ankle just a few moments before they get into the water to start their race. We will have volunteers helping with this. Parents keep in mind that you will need to let you kids get into line for this and then go to another area of the pool where the kids are not lining up. If we have all parents in the area where we are handing out chips, it will be too congested to start the race!

Volunteers

We need many volunteers to make this a fun, safe race. There are many different areas we need help with. You will receive a Fall Frenzy Volunteer t-shirt and lunch. If you or any of your friends would like to volunteer, please email nroderick@mho.com.
